This section of the site lists some of the projects I am, or have been, involved with in reverse chronological order. I have plenty in the pipeline, so please keep checking back!

Acropora House QTVR - March 2008

This 17000 litre display tank is an awesome sight to behold... easily one of the top private tanks in the UK. However, due to the shape of the tank it's always been quite hard to photograph. Now, using special equipment, I have been able to produce a VR image that gives you a whole new perspective on this amazing reef. Many thanks to Mark Howarth, the tank owner, for allowing access. Click HERE and enjoy!

(movie requires Quicktime player and file size is about 300kb so please give time to load)

Seadragon Exclusive - March 2008

I was honoured to be offered exclusive access to photograph the first batch of captive-raised Weedy Seadragons to enter the UK. These unique creatures which were shipped direct from Seahorse Australia to Simply Seahorses in Cheshire are now destined for public aquaria in the UK and Europe. They were very hard to photograph due to low light conditions but I got a few 'keepers'... shot on left due to appear in PFK shortly.

Digital-Reefs does Freshwater too! - January 2008

Working in collaboration with top US reef expert Vincent Hargreaves of the Monterey Bay Aquarium USA, I am proud to have had several of my freshwater images featured in his book 'The Complete Book of the Freshwater Aquarium'. This work is a follow-up to the renowned 'The Complete book of the Marine Aquarium' which was a best seller. To be acknowledged by Vincent as a 'world-class photographer' is a real honour.

New 'Super Macro' Gallery Launched - 30 January 2008

Quite a few hobbyists seem to be stepping up to entry level DSLRs at the moment and I notice some are also now using dedicated macro lenses. As such, I thought it might be fun to share some of my own favourite macro images captured over the last few years mainly with my Canon and Tamron combination. Click HERE to go directly to the gallery. Please note: as with other images in my galleries, these images are downsized from full resolution to 800x600 (72ppi) and compressed to optimise accessibility/viewability.

If you have any interesting macros to share, feel free to post your images in the forum

Pure Fluorescence article in PFK Magazine - 22 January 2008

My article on photographing reef fluorescence was published in PFK magazine (Feb 2008 issue) today. To my knowledge my images are the only ones of their kind coming out of the UK at the moment and it is very rewarding to showcase my work in a publication which has such a wide circulation. If you are interested in such images, research, techniques, or if you have your own shots that you wish to share, please feel free to contribute in the special thread I have set-up in the forum area. It's the only dedicated discussion forum for this interesting, cutting-edge area of the aquatic photography hobby in the World at present. For more examples, please visit my 'Night Vision' gallery.

Images in Marine World Magazine - December 2007

I am honoured to be collaborating with Henry C. Shultz III, co-founder of ReefCentral (the largest reef-related internet forum in the World), by providing images for his series 'Fishy Tales'. Appearing in Marine World magazine at the moment, this detailed series has already covered Genicanthus sp. Angels, Rabbitfishes and Ecsenius sp. Blennies and is a must-read for anyone seriously interested in the captive care of such species. To visit the magazine's website, click HERE

My PFK Blog Series - December 2007

In addition to regular contributions to the magazine, I'll be busy for the next few months providing blog updates on the PFK website as well as on here! On request, I am aiming to submit about 2 blogs a month detailing the upgrading of my system which was awarded UK 'Tank of the Year' by ReefsUK in 2006. I am also planning more detailed material when it comes to stocking the new system. To visit the PFK blog site, click HERE

Regular Column in PFK - December 2007

Following positive feedback from my contributions during Autumn 2007, I have secured a regular slot in Practical Fishkeeping Magazine (UK). My new column, entitled 'Out of the Blue' focuses on some of the more unusual livestock entering the UK trade at this time. Throughout the series I'll be aiming to inspire fellow aquarists with useful information for the species concerned, and promoting responsible reef-keeping. To visit PFK's website, click HERE

Tropical Fish Magazine (UK) Cover Shots - December 2007

Two of my images were chosen by the magazine to act as their cover shots for December and January issues. The December issue features a shot of 2 large Surgeonfish, taken at South Manchester Aquatics (UK). The January shot, taken at the same location features a gorgeous Green Mandarin with a leather coral in the background.

My Tank in PFK Magazine Xmas 2007 Supplement - December 2007

Winning the 2006 'Tank of the Year' competition on ReefsUK had already led to one magazine feature (see article xx) and I was thrilled to be invited to submit a second article for PFKs Christmas marine supplement. The feature was particularly timely as it allowed me to pass on observations made as my tank passed the '4 year old' mark. To visit the PFK website, click HERE

Marine World Magazine (UK) Cover Shots - Early 2007

My first magazine cover features a stunning, healthy Chevron Tang caught in the middle of a high speed turn. The image was taken at South Manchester Aquatics late 2006. On the Feb/Mar 2007 issue, an unusual and expensive Weedy Scorpion, on sale at AquaWorld, Warrington is the subject.
